Governor Matt Meyer has established the Office of Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety to coordinate efforts address gun violence. The office will serve as a central hub to support and elevate community-based solutions.
End Community Violence Now Executive Director Lauren Footman affirmed support stating:
“We stand ready to offer technical assistance, align funding, and ensure that those closest to the work are closest to the resources… We have the opportunity to show the nation how public-private partnerships can truly drive safety, healing, and equity for all of our communities.”
The Office will operate under the Department of Safety and Homeland Security and strengthen collaboration across agencies, advocates, and local organizations to address gun violence as a public health crisis.
