End Community Violence Now to Host Virtual Community Violence Intervention Advocacy Day

ECVN, will be joined by Gov. Matt Meyer, Lt. Gov. Kyle Evans Gay, and lawmakers advocating for increased funding to address community violence, statewide public safety strategies, and more transparent and accessible data on gun violence

DOVER – End Community Violence Now (ECVN) announced that from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, they will host Delaware’s Community Violence Intervention (CVI) Day of Action. While previously scheduled to take place in person, this CVI Day of Action will now take place virtually in partnership with survivors, advocates, coalition partners, community leaders, public health experts, and policymakers to share data, stories, and strategies that advance a safer, healthier Delaware.

The CVI Advocacy Day will kick off with presentations and a panel discussion on key statistics and trends on gun violence across Delaware, the importance of addressing gun violence as a public health crisis, and the urgency for the state of Delaware to make further investments in CVI strategies. In the afternoon, participants will meet with lawmakers, advocating for increased funding to address community violence, more effective and community-informed public safety strategies, as well as transparent and accessible data on gun violence. Governor Matt Meyer and Lieutenant Governor Kyle Evans Gay will also be in attendance.

End Community Violence Now (ECVN) is the state of Delaware’s community-based Office of Violence Prevention. This public-private partnership seeks to break the cycle of violence through coordinated and sustained investments in evidence-based programs. This includes community engagement and education campaigns, policy advocacy, stakeholder strategy, as well as offering technical assistance and grant-making support to local organizations on the ground doing the difficult, but necessary work. ECVN envisions a future where all Delawareans are safe from the rising threat of gun violence.
