End Community Violence Now Sponsors with The Carry Their Light Project, Our R.O.O.T.S. Foundation to Host Inaugural Gala

Proceeds from The Gala will go towards supporting initiatives aimed at ending community violence

DOVER – Today, End Community Violence Now (ECVN) announced that it has partnered with The Carry Their Light Project and Our R.O.O.T.S Foundation to host The Gala: Survival of the Flyest. The Gala will take place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Delaware Agricultural Museum, 866 N. Dupont Hwy. Dover, DE 19901.

This formal evening will unite families, community leaders, survivors, and supporters to honor the lives lost to community violence and provide a safe, healing space centered on remembrance, unity, and purpose. Proceeds will directly support youth mentorship, community building, and violence prevention programs in Dover.

“ECVN is proud to partner with The Carry Their Light Project and Our R.O.O.T.S Foundation on this inaugural gala that not only honors lives lost but uplifts those still fighting for change,” said Lauren Footman, Executive Director of ECVN. “This event represents what’s possible when community-led efforts, advocacy, and healing come together to build safer, stronger communities.”

The Gala will be hosted by Kaligah Parker, founder of The Carry Their Light Project, and Cammerin Norwood, founder of Our R.O.O.T.S. Foundation (Reclaiming Our Own Through Support). Both lifelong Dover residents with deep community ties, Parker and Norwood have dedicated their work to ending the cycle of violence, supporting families affected by gun violence, and fostering healing and hope. Their efforts include advancing youth-focused violence prevention programs, promoting mental health and substance use awareness, supporting reentry and rehabilitation services, and championing holistic community wellness.

“Bringing a sense of elegance and an experience to a community that has endured so much trauma allows us to feel togetherness and unity while expressing ourselves through fashion,” said Parker.

“This is exactly what the community needs,” added Norwood. “The capital of Delaware deserves to have events like this regularly – moments that bring people together and remind us of our collective strength.”
