Our recently expanded efforts to Southern Delaware were covered by Morning Star Publications.

On January 17, we held a community meeting in Laurel and engaged with local leaders, violence survivors, and organizations, including Operation West Laurel (OWL), to discuss challenges in Sussex County.

Local officials in attendance, including Laurel Mayor John Shwed and Superintendent Dr. Shawn Larrimore, discussed potential initiatives, such as expanding after school programs and repurposing buildings for community use, all ideas community members support. Residents emphasized the need for youth activities, better facilities, and equitable funding for Sussex County.

State Senator Bryant Richardson encouraged residents to bring forward funding ideas, while Seaford Mayor Matt MacCoy stressed that ending violence requires long-term commitment.
